The Position

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for preparing drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software programs for sheet metal manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

· Work with assigned project mechanical engineer to create drawing submittal packages to customer.

· Coordinate mechanical drawing layouts and notes with project engineer (both mechanical and electrical).

· Create and release structural fabrication drawings to the production floor.

· Create and release drawings of sheet metal parts to the production floor.

· Assist fabrication and production department personnel with design questions and issues with designs.

· Generate “As Built” drawings at the end of a project for customer records.

· Develop standard drawing details for engineering library

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Required

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

· Basic knowledge of creating structural fabrication drawings, designing sheet metal parts, and generating wall elevations and plan view drawings in 2D

· Extensive knowledge of CAD software (preferable AutoCad and SolidWorks) and other drafting tools.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Experience/Education:

· High school diploma required; Associates degree in Drafting preferred

· At least 3 years experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Familiarity with SolidWorks Sheet Metal is a plus.

Physical Demands

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

· Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed
